Matthew 26:36 Then Jesus came with them to a country place, which is called Gethsemani; and he said to his disciples: Sit you here, till I go yonder, and pray.

St. John tells us it was a garden, whither Jesus was accustomed to go with his disciples, which Judas knew. St. Luke says, he went according to his custom to the mount of Olives; that is where he used to spend part of the nights in prayer. (Witham)
