Psalms 105:23 *And he said that he would destroy them: had not Moses, his chosen, stood before him in the breach: To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

Breach. Like a valiant captain, (Calmet) or pastor. (Haydock) --- God complains of those who neglected this duty, Ezechiel 13:5., and 22:30. The psalmist alluded to the conduct of Moses, after the people had adored the calf, (Exodus 32:10.) or when they had joined with Core, Numbers 16:44. (Calmet) --- The intercession of the saints is useful, (St. Augustine) still more after their victories. (St. Jerome ad Vig. ii.) (2 Machabees 15:14.)
